Dan has been an interesting and supportive teacher to me for about a year and a half now. I hadn't studied piano seriously since mid-childhood; now that I'm in my mid-twenties, Dan has been excellent at helping me get back into the swing of things. Even when I'm feeling discouraged and downbeat about mistakes I'm making I look forward to my lessons with him just to play and talk about music with him for an hour.
Dan is an excellent patient experienced piano teacher. I particularly like his approach to improvisation.
Dan is great, he's very versatile and has taught me many different styles over the last 10 years. He's easygoing and inspiring.
Dan is a super cool piano teacher. I reached out to him as an adult learner interested in learning how to play casually so that I could sing and jam with other musicians. We started off learning how to play my favorite songs within a few months I could play and sing three songs. He taught me arpeggios in a simple clear way - I don't think I'll ever forget that. I moved across the country so I lessons stopped but now, Dan and I are talking about starting remote lessons via Skype or Zoom.
Dan is supremely patient and flexible in his teaching style. Am enjoying my lessons very much.
My son took lessons from Dan from ages 8-10, and it was a great experience. Dan is patient, fun, and knowledgeable. He taught my son how to read music, play with the left and right hands, and improvise in what felt like record time. I would recommend him to anyone getting their kids started with piano and for adults looking to play too!
As an adult beginner, Dan put me quickly at ease. He is very patient and encouraging and I couldn't believe I was playing Beatles songs within three weeks! I also appreciate that he would share his knowledge of music in general with me when I asked all kinds of questions. I can highly recommend taking lessons with Dan.
I've been so pleased with piano lessons I've taken with Dan over the past year. I played when I was a kid and returned just recently after I retired. He has an uncanny ability to offer pieces at the right level - even just after only a brief email exchange before I met him. He strikes a balance in every respect. It's a convenience for me that he comes to my house for the lessons.
He offers challenge without frustration, expertise and expectation without guilt. I think he is particularly gifted about gauging the musical level of the student with whom he is working. Beyond that, he also understands the pace at which a student progresses and the appropriate mix of new suggestions to offer in order to keep the student out of boredom or getting overwhelmed.
He appreciates and teaches various genres. Dan is knowledgeable about theory and I have learned a lot from him. He teaches as things come up in the course of our lessons and in appropriate response to my questions rather than through tedious self contained lessons. Adaptable and flexible, he has new ideas to offer every lesson whether I have had time to practice or not, whether I feel like I've made progress or not.
I'm not accustomed to calling someone without a personal recommendation. In this case, I did, just based on the information on his website. I feel very lucky to have found him, and seriously could not be more satisfied.
Dan Belmont was my piano teacher for a couple of years. I had already studied the piano for many, many years and I teach piano lessons. Dan taught me jazz piano lessons. He was reliable and very thorough. He presented jazz to me in a multi-faceted manner including the use of technology in his teaching. He was well versed in jazz theory and performance. Dan has improved my approach to improvisation and has provided me with more music choices for my own students. Dan Belmont is a great piano teacher.
Dan is an excellent teacher both for beginners and people with piano experience. He is willing to meet you where you are at and is able to customize the teaching to both reassure and enhance skills you may already have. I have had session with him and they proved invaluable going forward with my playing, theoretical knowledge and new skills in musicianship.
